Master thesis testimonials

Master thesis - Testimonials from the PSRS interns
The internship, a work experience that completes the training and opens up a professional network.

The program has equipped me with invaluable knowledge and opened doors to exciting opportunities

“As a current student pursuing the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Photonics for Security Reliability and Safety (PSRS), my journey with the PSRS consortium has been truly transformative. The program has equipped me with invaluable knowledge and opened doors to exciting opportunities.

Iye Szin ANG, 2021-2023

"My master's thesis at the chair of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), Montanuniversität Leoben focuses on integrating sign language into robot interaction, making communication more natural and intuitive. This not only promotes inclusivity but also provides a non-verbal and non-intrusive way for individuals to control and interact with robots.
Thanks to the PSRS program, I have expanded my skill set in digital image processing and computer vision, which has directly contributed to my research in human-robot interaction. Through hands-on experiences and comprehensive training, I have become proficient in analyzing and interpreting digital images, using advanced techniques and algorithms for tasks like object detection, recognition, and tracking.
Thank you, PSRS, for providing me with the platform to explore, learn, and grow.”

Mulusew Wondie Yaltaye, 2020-2022

Master thesis at UEF - "Curved multilayered structure for directional Raman enhancement"

Navaneeth Tejasvi Mysore Nagendra, 2020-2022

Maser thesis at 3D-OXIDES

"I mainly work with thin-films such as HfO2 (hafnium dioxide) and its dielectric and morphological properties. I am also studying the implementation of Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs) in these thin-films. PSRS as a platform has equipped me with sufficient skill sets to dive into these kind of research areas and explore without any hesitation. I thank everyone in the PSRS consortium for providing me with sufficient knowledge and opportunities."

Master thesis at Institute of Photonics at University of Eastern Finland

Sumit, 2020-2022

I am doing my master thesis research at institute of Photonics, University of Eastern Finland

“Bonjour, My name is Sumit, I am in the second year of Master PSRS program. Currently I am doing my master thesis research at institute of Photonics, University of Eastern Finland. Started 50 years ago, institute of Photonics is a multidisciplinary institute combining different departments like chemistry, information technology, biology and physics and mathematics of UEF.

PSRS course work gave me confidence to succeed in my research career

“Based on my experience I can say that PSRS course work gave me confidence to succeed in my research career. Also, I would like to say that selection of third semester for mobility is very crucial for future career path. I did my third semester at University Jean Monnet where I got valuable skills in plasmonics, machine learning, laser processing and micro and nano structuring of surfaces which helped to decide my master thesis topic. My thesis is based on fabrication of black silicon coated with plasmonic metals base SERS substrates for biomedical applications which is related to the core motivation of PSRS. I mostly work in clean room laboratories  (total area 150 m2 and ISO class 5, 6 and 7)”

Master’s thesis at VTT Technical Research Center of Finland in 2022

Turn large global challenges into sustainable growth for business and society

"Hello everyone,

My name is Duc, who is an M2 PSRS student. Currently, I am doing my Master’s thesis at VTT Technical Research Center of Finland. VTT is one of Europe’s leading research institutions. VTT’s main objective is to turn large global challenges into sustainable growth for business and society. VTT has several institutions around Finland with more than 2000 employees."

The PSRS curriculum equipped me with enough knowledge to develop my thesis work

“About my thesis, I am working on plasmonics for biosensing applications at VTT Oulu. On this topic, I do both simulations and experiments. I am confident that the PSRS curriculum equipped me with enough knowledge to develop my thesis work. Furthermore, I work in a multidisciplinary team where I develop my teamwork and communication skills. Additionally, I have opportunities to join training courses by VTT to enhance my research skills, for example, science writing.”
